Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing therapy which works on the body's vital energy.  The practitioner uses a variety of gentle techniques including finger pressure, stretching and rotation of joints to improve the client's energy flow.  By balancing this energy, Shiatsu helps to promote better health and strengthens the body's own self-healing abilities.

"Shiatsu is a therapy that works on the individual as a complete being - not just the physical body but also on an emotional and/or mental level".  (Source: The Shiatsu Society, 2002, A Guide to Shiatsu leaflet).

Treatment lasts approximately 1 hour and takes place on a futon (padded mat) on the floor.  The client is fully dressed - loose clothing is recommended eg sweatshirt and tracksuit trousers.
