Our Support Services offer daytime facilities and activities for people living in the community who have or have had mental health problems. Working either on a 1-2-1 basis or through group activities this service offers an informal and friendly atmosphere where members can feel able to relax and share their experiences and concerns if necessary.

DAMH offer a wide variety of groups throughout the week both in the centre and elsewhere.
This gives our participants an opportunity to take part in a range of activities which can help lift the mood, improve wellbeing and help build confidence, It’s also a great chance to meet other participants and forge new friendships.
These sessions on Mondays between 10 – 12.00 and a Wednesday from 2.00 – 4.00 offer a more informal chance to sit and have a chat with staff and other participants.
This is a social time where participants can also play some pool or join in a game of dominos or some of the other board games available.
The women’s group meets on a Wednesday morning between 10.00 am and 12.00 noon to have a relaxed and informal chat, listen to interesting guest speakers or go on day trips to places of interest.
Recent Activity has included – quizzes, upcycling clothes, trip to St Andrews as well as a lunch outing.

The Men’s group meet on a Thursday afternoon between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. This can involve domino tournaments, quizzes or guest speakers. Often we have full-day trips to such places as Hampden Park Museum, Dunblane Cathedral as well as a day trip to Stonehaven.
The Rambling Group goes an all day walk each Thursday – walks are usually between 6 and 8 miles and when possible a staff member accompanies the group. The group get together every three months to plan the walks, and a participant in the group then puts together a programme for the 3 months ahead, the latest schedule is attached above
Walks have included the following:
- Barnton- Queensferry
- Corbie Den to Tealing
- Errol to Port Allen to St Madoes
- Muirhead to Benvie/Invergowrie Riverside Nature Park to Botanic Gardens
The vast majority of walks are accessed through public transport.
The Monday Walking Group does a shorter and more local walk and so is accessible to a wider range of fitness levels. The group is accompanied by a staff member and has a planned schedule of walks which have included the following:
- Muirhead to Invergowrie
- Dundee Botanic Gardens
- The Miley
- Backmuir Woods
The walks usually head off from the at the Centre at around 12.30 pm. These can be weather dependent so if in doubt please call ahead to the Centre first.
The Gardening group takes place at our allotments on the Dundee Law on Tuesdays from 11.00 am till 4.00 pm with reduced running times in the winter.
After a lot of recent work renovating the area the layout consists of two adjacent allotments, borders, paved patio , benches , a greenhouse, a barked area and a soft fruit enclosure.
There are communal plots as well as some individual areas. At the moment we are growing cabbages, peas, tomatoes, aubergines as well as some assorted flowers and herbs.
All tools are provided as is tea and coffee.
The Music Group meet on a Monday afternoon and a Friday afternoon between 2.00 and 4.00 pm. There is a small supply of guitars as well as some other instruments available.
The group came together to play and learn music as well as having a sing-along. The social aspect of the group also plays an important part and participants are encouraged to build positive and supportive relationships with each other.This group is now growing steadily with several new participants joining regularly.
Jewellery and Art & Crafts Groups
Held on a Tuesday morning the Jewellery groups works with different materials to produce assorted pieces such as bracelets, necklaces and charm sets.
The Art groups run on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon and focus on all types of arts and craft This can be working on a project such as our wonderful Willow Tree Collage, mosaic work, knitting and crochet balloon art as well as colouring in.
If its a bit of peace and quiet and contemplation you’re after then our relaxation session could be just the thin. On a Monday and Friday for an hour Gillian will help you relax in a quiet tranquil space using a variety of methods such as meditation and breathing exercises.
Would you like to learn a bit of Italian – then join Natalya on a Tuesday afternoon between 2 -4 for a couple of hours to help you with a bit of conversation Italian. Places are limited so please pre-book this.
Exercise and Wellbeing
We are also able to offer some Badminton or table tennis at Ward Road Gym on a Friday lunchtime as well as attending an external Tai- Chi class on Thursdays.
